Zoo

Cordoba Zoo was founded in the late 1960s, and its collection was built up according to the values of the day. Almost 40 years on, the installations and basic equipment have been renewed, and the zoo has reopened with a new philosophy – to be a Wildlife Centre where conservation, scientific research and education are the objectives which dictate every aspect of its daily routine.

With completely new installations, and the animal collection redesigned to meet modern demands, the Zoo runs educational events which we hope will play a major role in conservation, by helping to inform the public and changing their attitudes. In addition, these events also provide an alternative extra-curricular resource for improving the teaching of sciences, especially natural science, in what is, to all intents and purposes, an open-air laboratory.
